Oaks, limbs and older roof decks
Large trees give welcome shade, but they also drop limbs, leaves and acorns onto roofs. Debris holds moisture in valleys and behind chimneys, and a falling branch can crack tile or lift shingles in a single gust.
Houses from the mid twentieth century may also have older decking, including plank boards, that needs a careful look when a roof is stripped. Rot under old layers is not visible from the ground. We check the deck as the old roof comes off, show you any damage we find and discuss the repair before work continues. Tree trimming near the roof is a separate trade, but we will tell you where branches are a risk.
