Pines, oaks and the debris they leave behind
Many North Fort Myers lots are wooded, and the trees shed leaves, needles and small limbs year round. Debris collects in valleys and behind vents, holds moisture against the roof and invites algae and moss, especially on shaded slopes.
Frequent cleaning can slow this, but standing damp is hard on shingles and underlayment. A roof that stays shaded for most of the day often ages faster than the same material in full sun. During a roof visit we look at the shaded slopes first, because that is where trouble tends to start. If a branch is touching the roof, we point it out so a tree service can deal with it.
